Hanover Associates took part in a week long workshop in 2010 in Ahrweiler, Germany organised by the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance, Academy for Crisis Management, Emergency Planning and Civil Protection.

Participants included the German Red Cross, senior members of the regional police and fire brigade, emergency management from Frankfurt airport and the crisis communication press department, civil disaster management and crisis management lecturers.

Hanover presented to the German workshop on the lessons learnt historically in the UK from railway and aircraft accidents, fires, floods and terrorism and the resulting recognised need over the last decade for greater multi agency co-operation and intelligence sharing. Developments such as multi agency seminars, multi agency command and control, national exercising and major incidents protocols were discussed in detail.

The German workshop also focused on the detailed multi agency response to 7/7. Each incident was examined through the command and control structure as well as considering the centralised strategic response to the attacks. An analysis was presented of what had worked well and the lessons learned.
